Jayoung Yoon Born in Seoul, South Korea, Soprano Jayoung Yoon has recently completed a string of successful debuts and performances in the past year. In April of 2003, Ms. Jayoung Yoon made her New York City debut singing the role of Pamina in The Magic Flute with Lyric Opera of New York. Also, in October 2003 she made her debut with the Fargo Moorhead Opera Company as Fiordiligi in Cosi fan tutte. Additionally, Ms. Yoon had the opportunity to be the cover for Maria in Gulgielmo Ratcliff with Grattacielo Teatro at the Lincoln Center and in March of 2004 made her debut singing the role of Donna Anna in Don Giovanni with Amarillo Opera. She was also invited to sing for the New Governor’s inauguration Ceremony in St. Paul Minnesota. Ms. Yoon recently returned from her Israli debut as Blanche de la Force in Dialogues of the Carmelites, a performance in which she was described by the Israeli press, HAARETZ, as " an exquisite artist young Korean Soprano Jayoung Yoon performed her role convincingly and with strong characterization."

As a memeber of the Austin Lyric Opera’s Young Artist Programm Ms. Yoon had the opportunity to perform many significant roles with the company. These include Lula in Carlisle Floyd’s Cold Sassy Tree, Micaela in Carmen and Gilda in Rigoletto. This performance was reviewed by Opera News "Lyric Soprano Jayoung Yoon revealed a limpid legato, touching throughout.." Besdies theres, Ms. Yoon has performed an impressive array of the operatic roles including Fiordiligi in Cosi fan tutte, Donna Anna in Don Giovanniand Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro, Mimi and Musetta in La Boheme, Blanches de la force in Dialogues of the Carmelites, Clorinda in La Cenerentola, Rosina in The Barber of Seville, Marguerite in Faust and Pamina and First Lady in The Magic Flute. Ms.Yoon has also appeared as a guest soloist for Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s Mass is B minor, Schubert’s Mass in G and Mozart’s Kronugsmesse with the Seoul Sym-phony, The Bach Festival Orchestra, Full Gospel Orchestra and Symphony of Lakes. Also she has been performing many rectials in Dublin, Ireland, France, Israel, Mexico, Minnesota, Michigan, California, and Texas.

Ms. Yoon received her B.M .and M.M. in Music from Seoul National University. While pursuing both her degree ,she was honored with S.N.U scholarship. One of Ms. Yoon’s earliest honors came while still in high school, she received full scholarship from The Taepeungyang.

She has numerous awards to her credit which includes 1st Prize Winner and The Best Performer Award of The Schubert Club Competition, Best Performer Award of The International Friedrich Schorr Memorial Competition, 1st Prize Winner of The Veronica Dunn International Singing Competition which allowed her to perform in Dublin, Ireland as well 1st Prize Winner of The District Metropolitan Audition and Special Award of the upper Midwest Regional Auditions for the Metropolitan Opera National Council. Ms. Yoon also a recipient of Jorma Hynninen Fellowship and Dr. and Mrs. John W. Shore fellowship.

Most recently, Ms. Yoon was the second prize and Audience Choice Winner of the Verisimo Voice Competition in New York. Ms. Yoon will be peforming Natalie from Zazà with Teatro Grattacielo at Alice Tully Hall Lincoln Center,soprano solo in Beethoven's Mass in C with The Middle Town Chorale, Micaela in Carmen with One World Symphony, Frasquita in Carmen with Duluth Superior Symphony, and solo recitals in Dallas, Chicago, Albany and New York City.
