Yunah Lee Yunah Lee just completed a very successful engagement singing the title role in Madame Butterfly with New York City Opera. She will make her debut in this role with Opera Ireland in Dublin this coming fall. Recent engagements for Ms. Lee, included a return to New York City Opera singing Mimi in La Boheme, her European opera debut as the title role in Madame Butterfly with Stattheater Bern in Switzerland and with Opera Grand Rapids, an opera concert with Gran Teater del Liceu in Barcelona and the role of Marguerite in Faust with the Kalamazoo Symphony. Other recent engagements include the role of Madame Butterfly with New York City Opera and at the Duluth Festival as well as the role of Mimi with the Korean National Opera. The year of 2005 marked her debut with Toledo Opera in the role of Marguerite in Faust, Pamina in Die Zauberflöte with Kalamazoo Symphony and a debut in the role of Nedda in Pagliacci with Intermountain Opera.

Ms. Lee made her New York City Opera debut in April, 1998 as Micaëla in Carmen after having sung with them the United States premiere of the contemporary opera Kinkakuji and later returned to perform the roles of Mimi and Zerlina. In 2002,she made her debut in the role of Cio Cio San in Madama Butterfly with Boheme Opera and repeated the role with Opera Roanoke, Virginia Opera, Longview Opera and San Antonio Opera.

She toured Taiwan as Mimi, a production she repeated in Rochester and Buffalo. Ms. Lee made her debut in the Sao Paulo production of Carmen and the Fort Worth Opera as Micaëla--a role she repeated with Tokyo City Orchestra. Other recent performances include Marguerite and Liu with the Minnesota Opera, her debut in the role of Leila in Les Pecheurs de Perles and Mimi with the Cleveland Opera and Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni with Palm Beach Opera. Most recent engagements include Ms. Lee's debut in the role of Juliette in Romeo et Juliette with Opera Roanoke and European Concert debut in Spain with Pablo Picasso Orchestra in Malaga, Spain.

Past performance roles include Micaëla and Mimi with the Boheme Opera, Marguerite with the Nachez Opera, Zerlina, Marguerite and Micaëla with the El Paso Opera, Adina with the Virginia Opera, Liu with the Orlando Opera and the New Jersey State Opera, and Mimi with the New York City Opera National Company.

As an active concert singer, Ms. Lee has sung Messiah, Mozart's Requiem, Haydn's Creation and Bach St. Matthew Passion with the New York Oratorio Society at the Carnegie Hall, and Verdi's Requiem with National Chorale at the Avery Fisher Hall.

Born in Taegu, Korea, Ms. Lee earned her Master's Degree at The Juilliard School and Bachelor's Degree from Hanyang University as a full scholarship student. Ms. Lee also studied at the New England Conservatory of Music. Ms. Lee received First Prize in the Mario Lanza Competition and in the Verismo Opera Competition.

Ms. Lee made her solo recital debut at the Carnegie Hall and Ho-Am Recital Hall in Seoul, Korea. Ms. Lee was also featured in the Christmas Concert with Beijing National Symphony in China and in her recital with Shanghai Symphony at Shanghai Music Center and Seoul Arts Center and in the Concert with Tokyo City Orchestra. Ms. Lee's first recording of "Four Seasons in Korea" with I Musici released in 2004.
