American soprano, Holly Hall, recently made a very successful debut as Tosca at New York City Opera. As a
result of her impressive Tosca performances, Ms. Hall was invited, on very short notice, to learn and cover the
role of Salome for the summer 2000 season at Glimmerglass Opera. During the 1998-1999 season, Ms. Hall
debuted at the Vienna Staatsoper, singing Gutrune and the Third Norn in Götterdämmerung, Freia in Das
Rheingold, Helmwige in Die Walküre, and 4th Maid in Elektra. Ms. Hall was immediately reengaged as
Giulietta in Les Contes d'Hoffmann. She made her professional operatic debut as Konstanze in Die
Entführung aus dem Serail. She has sung with Virginia Opera as the Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte,
the American Chamber Opera as Lucy in The Telephone, and in the US stage premiere of Robert Starer's The
Last Lover. Other roles include Micaela in Carmen, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, and Mrs. Ford in
Nicolai's The Merry Wives of Windsor. She appeared with Florentine Opera in their production of Die
Walküre.
Recent and Upcoming: Holly sang in the New York City VOX 2004; The American Composer Showcase as the sole soloist in Dream President by Jennifer Griffith. She will sing Gerhilde in Die Walküre with Seattle Opera in 2005 and will be soloist with the New York Symphonic Arts Ensemble singing works by Strauss and Wagner. In 2006, Holly will perform the role of Minnie in La Fanciulla del West at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center. Ms. Hall has sung Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and made her Carnegie Hall debut in Mozart's Coronation Mass. She appeared in concert in the Bruno Walter Recital Series at Lincoln Center, the afternoon recitals at historic Trinity Church and at the Cleveland Museum of Art. A native of Richmond, Virginia, Holly Hall is a graduate of Cleveland State University and holds a Master's Degree from the Manhattan School of Music. She is the winner of the Musician's Club of New York recital grant and is the recipient of several study grants from the Wagner Society. |
