Theresa Cincione American soprano, Theresa Cincione, has established a reputation for versatility and excellence across a wide spectrum of operatic, concert and chamber repertoire. In Fall 2000, she journeyed to Taiwan for performances of Mimi in La Boheme. That season she was also heard at the Metropolitan Opera as Frasquita in Carmen and made her debut as Liu in Turandot at the Opera Festival of New Jersey. In Fall 2001, she made her debut with Lyric Opera of Chicago as Greta Fiorentino in Street Scene and returned to the Met in Winter 2002 for their new production of War and Peace and Elecktra. In 2003 she was called upon the Met to sing Eva in Der Meistersinger. During the 2004 season, she traveled to Alaska to sing Mimi for Anchorage Opera and to Granite State Opera to sing Countess, and her first Pamina. In September 2005, Ms. Cincione will be sing Violetta in La Traviata at the Taipei Music Festival.

After covering Eva in Die Meistersinger in Winter 1999 at Lyric Opera of Chicago, Ms. Cincione returned to cover the title role in Handel’s Alcina. Other highlights of the 1999-2000 season included performances of Marguerite in Faust at Opera Carolina and Indianapolis Opera. In the previous season she made her debut with Houston Grand Opera as Micaela, and in June sang Mirinda in Little Orchestra Society’s Lincoln Center premiere of Vivaldi’s recently rediscovered opera Arsilda, regina di ponto. She returned to the Metropolitan Opera in the 1997-98 season for their productions of Manon, Carmen and Stiffelio.

Highlights of previous seasons include Ms. Cincione’s return to New York City Opera to sing Mimi in Fall 1996 and Liu in Spring 1997. That season she also sang Micaela with Opera Columbus. She made her European debut during the 1996-97 season at the Flemish Opera in Antwerp and Ghent, singing 13 performances of Mimi in Robert Carsen’s production of La Boheme conducted by Silvio Varviso.

Ms. Cincione made her debut with the Metropolitan Opera in the 1991-92 season with performances in Idomeneo, Aida, Parsifal, Elektra and the world premiere of John Corigliano’s The Ghosts of Versailles. In subsequent seasons at the Met, Ms. Cincione has participated in productions of Jenufa, Death in Venice, Rigoletto, Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, Pique Dame and in the revivals of The Ghosts of Versailles, Elektra and Parsifal. With the New York City Opera, she made her debut in 1993 as Micaela and also sang Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro that season. She sang Liu in Turandot atCity Opera in the 1995-96 season.

Theresa Cincione appeared for several summers at the Newport Music Festival, where she performed a large and varied concert repertoire, including Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915, Strauss’ Four Last Songs and songs and ensembles by Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Brahms, Schumann, Guastavino, Rodrigo and in a concert presentation of Mozart’s The Impressario. At the Berkshire Choral Institute in Massachusetts, she has appeared as soprano soloist in Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Dvoràk’s Te Deum, and Vaughan Williams’ Sea Symphony. She has sung Handel’s Messiah with the Columbus Symphony and the Mozart Requiem with the Colorado Symphony. She has performed with Eve Queler and the Opera Orchestra of New York, most recently in the title role of Verdi’s Giovanna d’Arco in the orchestra’s performance in Princeton, New Jersey, and previously in the Carnegie Hall presentations of Massenet’s Herodiade and Donizetti’s Caterina Cornaro.

Ms. Cincione received her undergraduate education at Ohio State University, and holds her Master of Music degree from Manhattan School of Music. She currently resides in New York City.
